An opulent Shiraz with brooding and succulent dark berry fruits infused with chocolate tannins and hints of vanilla from the structural French oak support.

A deep inviting purple colour.

Cellar well for 10-30 years or more.

Food Pairing

We recommend indulging in this opulent Shiraz with aged vintage cheeses or an eye fillet with a red wine reduction. Decanting 3-6 hours (or more) before drinking will open up and intensify this outstanding wine.

The 'Julius' Shiraz is Z-Wine's premium flagship wine- carefully basket-pressed and produced from an amazingly concentrated vintage in 2013. This resulted in a beautifully hand-crafted boutique Barossa Valley Shiraz. The brooding and succulent blackberry fruits are infused with dark chocolate tannins (derived from the Lyndoch soil terrior) it has hints of vanilla from the structural French oak support.

Oaked 18 months in French and American oak barriques (40% new).

The Zerk vineyard situated in Lyndoch in the Barossa Valley is steeped in family history. This wine captures the essence of the vineyard and five generations of pioneering hard work from 1846 (over 160 years ago).

In The Spotlight

Z Wine wins "Wine of Provenance' trophy sponsored by 'The Conservatory Bar' for the 2006, 2008 & 2014 Julius Barossa Valley Shiraz in the 2016 Cairns Wine Show.  "The 2013 is still youthful showing classic rich Barossa characters of raspberry, licorice and dark chocolate with black pepper notes." - June 18, 2016

"From 20 year old vines planted by Janelle and Kristen Zerk, their father and grandfather. A supremely honest and generous Barossa Valley shiraz, but by no means a sledge hammer; the bouquet is expressive, the medium-bodied palate very well structured and balanced, with ripe blackberry fruit neatly balanced by fine, ripe tannins and well judged oak. Drink by 2033" Hames Halliday | 2016 Wine Companion

"Deep, Dense/purple colour with a fresh fruit-driven bouquet showing blood plum and some peppery and mineral/ironstone earthy notes. It's big, bold and brash in the mouth: very full-bodied and emphatic with firm tannins in abundance. A whopper, and it really needs time." HUON HOOKE
