Bogle Vineyards Petite Sirah Port 2018
Available Options
Smooth and inviting, our Port unfolds with lush layers of boysenberry jam and black raspberries. Aromas of French vanilla and chocolate mocha captivate the nose, with a hint of pipe tobacco on the finish. Aged 31 months in neutral American oak barrels, this dessert wine needs no accompaniment. And because Port ages well, it can be enjoyed for the next 20 years.
Food Pairing
This rich wine pairs well with all the classic accompaniments, including chocolate, strawberries and Stilton cheese.
Winemaking
Our Old River Vineyard, located across from our Home Ranch in Clarksburg, has for years produced some our most concentrated and rich Petite Sirah. To produce this ruby-style, dessert Port wine, we let the grapes linger on the vine a full month past harvest time. After crush, we interrupt fermentation to fortify the wine with brandy. This process brings sugar and alcohol into perfect balance, concentrating the flavors of Petite Sirah to bring out the grape’s rich, sweet flavor. Aged in American oak barrels 22 months, the flavors are intensified, creating a beautiful wine.
