Russian Jack Pinot Gris 2020
Available Options
On the palate, the wine is luscious and succulent with brown pear, lychee and quince flavours. Our 2019 Pinot Gris is a bright, pale straw colour and offers intense nashi pear and floral jasmine aromatics to intrigue the senses. There is a bright acidity that brings juiciness to the palate and gives a long, pear and spice-flavoured finish.
Russian Jack (1878 - 1968) was a much loved ‘gentleman of the road’ who carried his life in huge sacks upon his shoulders. During fruit harvest this mysterious man was welcomed onto the farms around Martinborough where he picked fruit into old age. He was honoured by the local population who built a bronze statue to his memory.
Winemaking
Marlborough is New Zealand’s premier wine growing region located in the north-eastern tip of the South Island. Reputed as one of the top viticultural areas in the world, Pinot Gris from Marlborough is known for its distinctive aromatics, complex flavours and bright acidity.
Our 2019 Pinot Gris is comprised of Wairau Valley and Awatere Valley fruit. The Wairau Valley contributes bright aromatics and a lush blend of fruit characters. The Awatere Valley adds the crisp acidity and distinct minerality that is unique to the Marlborough region.
